Over half a million small business owners across the UK are invited to take part in the Small Business Survey (SBS).

The SBS is an anonymous opportunity for businesses located at the front line of the UK economy to have a say about what is affecting your business, to what extent and in ways you feel things can be improved.

As members of the general public and a consumer as well as being small business owners, you form part of a powerful collective voice that can help to shape the future of your high street, your community and small business across the UK.

The SBS is conducted for three main reasons:

1. To inform consumer decisions. The survey results enable members of the general public to make better, informed buying decisions. The survey enables us to inform the general public in ways to make buyer changes that better support the long-term environment and economy.
2. To provide information to enhance the local shopping experience. BIDS and town and city management companies will use the results to improve their local high street strategy for a better shopping experience and improved footfall.
3. To support consumer accountability. The survey is also a mechanism for the general public to be provided with information about UK high street strategies and how they can get involved.

Only you and fellow small business owners know what it’s like to run a small business and what it takes to be successful. The SBS is designed to capture your views and experiences on things that matter to you and affect your business. Your BID, Council or town and city management company will use your feedback to make meaningful changes to their high street strategy and messaging to your potential customers with realistic messages that promote the broader campaign to shop and support local businesses.

Your responses will be made available to the public through this website and will help provide useful information to potential customers about what small businesses exist and ways to shop with conscience over convenience.

Responses to the survey are strictly confidential. Whilst you are asked to enter an email address, all responses are anonymised before they are collated into datasets to ensure individuals cannot be identified.

SBS results can be downloaded in report format from this website once the survey has closed and the results collated. Please note that any comments you made are anonymous and are not published or identifiable.

Partner BIDS can request region-specific results which will be supplied in report format once the survey has closed.”
