Peak Wildlife Park

Peak wildlife Park is located in Leek, Staffordshire  and is a “unique wildlife attraction the combines conservation, education and entertainment for visitors of all ages.” The park is designed to best replicate the animals natural habitats and open enclosures. It officially opened in 2015 and works with many conservation organisations as well as breeding programs to support animals. Their dedication to education programs has been so important in raising awareness of endangered species and the importance of wildlife conservation. They have interactive experiences including walkthrough exhibits, keeper talks and animal feeding sessions.

World of Wedgwood in Barlaston 

The World of Wedgwood is an award-winning tourist destination in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. The site holds many experiences including hands-on creative studios, museum tours in the factory, Wedgewood tea room and a range of retail outlets and bars. The creative studio is where people can do pottery painting and have a go at making their own clay pot. The gold award-wining tea room offers a stunning restaurant space which also offers breakfast, lunch and brunch as well as the famous afternoon tea. If you fancy a cocktail or a gin there is a Six Town’s bar there, or if you really want to treat yourself Lunar offers a unique dining experience. 

Slamwich Club

If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Staffordshire, you have to try Slamwhich club in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. The clue is in the name, they do the most incredible sandwiches and have been awarded the Good Food Award 2023/24 and Tripadvisor has named them on the ‘Travellers choice’ list for 4 years in a row. The menu is full of amazing sandwiches and sides and the restaurant has a cool vibe. They also have some outdoor seating, if we actually get a summer this year. Definitely check these out if you haven’t already! 

Alton Towers

While not exactly hidden and doesn’t need an introduction is Alton Towers, a must-visit for thrill-seekers. This famous theme park offers a variety of rides, attractions, and beautiful gardens. Located in Alton Stoke On Trent if you haven’t visited already you should it’s a great but tiring day out. 

Trentham Gardens

A stunning estate featuring Italian gardens, a lake, a fairy trail, and a unique shopping village. It’s great for a relaxing day out with plenty of food and drink options. They also have events during the summer including concerts from Jess Glynne, Busted and Manic Street Preachers, as well as tribute acts and DJ’s running from 28th June to the 27th July. 

Cannock Chase AONB

An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cannock Chase is known for its woodland walks, children’s play areas, Go Ape, Gruffalo trail and even a dog activity trail. It’s also a favourite spot for hiking and especially biking with family cycling trails and cross country mountain biking. Located north of Birmingham in the West Midlands, it’s a great place to go with family, friends, children and of course doggies! 

Lichfield Cathedral

This medieval cathedral is the only three spired Cathedral in the UK. It has stunning architecture and the rich history continues to inspire and impress all who visit it. Explore the beautiful interior and learn about its fascinating history. Whilst you are in the area explore some of Lichfield’s independent shops and support the local community. 

Biddulph Grange Garden

This incredible Victorian garden was created by James Bateman and it takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of  China and the re-creation of Himalayan glen. As well as the stunning gardens, there is also a team room to enjoy a drink and some freshly made food, some shops, a garden centre and a woodland adventure play area great for all ages! 

Dovedale

Though technically just over the border in Derbyshire, Dovedale is easily accessible from Staffordshire. This beautiful valley in the Peak District is renowned for its River Dove, limestone ravines, picturesque stepping stones, and scenic walking trails. It’s family and dog friendly, and there are many different routes to take depending on how far you feel like walking! It is only a 12 minute drive to Ashbourne town which has some great independent shops so after a stroll head to the town to support some local businesses.
