Cheshire Day 2024

Cheshire Day 2024 is fast approaching so join us as we look back on all of the Cheshire towns we have visited and what makes them so special.

Hey there, fellow Cheshire enthusiasts! As we gear up for Cheshire Day on March 30th, 2024, it’s time to get excited about all the awesome stuff this county has to offer.

Cheshire Day isn’t just about paying homage to the history books; it’s about living in the moment and shouting about what makes this county a great place. Whether you’re a born-and-bred Cheshire cat or just passing through, this day is for you to show off what makes this county tick. So, let’s roll up our sleeves, get involved, and spread some Cheshire love!

Let’s take a tour of some of the Cheshire towns we have visited:

Tarporley:

Tarporley stands out as a shining example of community-driven living. During my visit, I was so impressed by the sense of camaraderie among business owners along the high street. Their unwavering support for one another and genuine passion for their town create an atmosphere that’s both welcoming and infectious. Tarporley’s thriving high street, coupled with its picturesque charm, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Cheshire.

Macclesfield:

In Macclesfield, I witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by its business community. Despite its undeniable charm and vibrant markets, Macclesfield faced low footfall and storefronts bearing “for sale” signs. Speaking with local business owners when I visited in Feb of 2023, I learned of their efforts to keep their businesses afloat but were struggling to stay open. But these businesses of Macclesfield’s and their resilience is a reminder of the importance of supporting local businesses, particularly during challenging times.

Nantwich:

From cosy cafes to quirky shops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy here! Plus, there’s so much to see and do that you’ll never be bored. Interestingly the business owners here did voice concerns about the ongoing issues of increased rents and parking rates putting people off visiting but it was not as concerning as Macc in my opinion. They also have great festivals in the town throughout the year like Jazz fest which is coming up this weekend!

Knutsford:

Amongst the designer shops are many cute independents including clothes boutiques, interior shops, and cafes. One standout feature is Tatton Park, right by the town, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. With its unique blend of luxury and local charm, Knutsford is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a taste of the high life in Cheshire.

Congleton:

In Congleton, it was also clear that the town and businesses were facing some challenges. Despite that, Congleton is particularly known for its vibrant bar and restaurant scene and there are some great independents to visit. Explore its streets, discover unique boutiques, and embrace the vibrant spirit of this charming town.

So, as Cheshire Day approaches, why not join in the celebrations? Whether you live in Cheshire or not, you can join in and visit these amazing towns to celebrate the stunning county.
